The White Mountains of New Hampshire are one of New England’s most iconic winter destinations, offering a mix of rugged natural beauty and world-class skiing. The region is home to several renowned ski resorts, including Bretton Woods, Loon Mountain, Cannon Mountain, and Waterville Valley, each with its own character and terrain. Bretton Woods is known for its wide, well-groomed trails and stunning views of Mount Washington, while Loon Mountain draws skiers with its modern lifts and family-friendly atmosphere. Cannon Mountain, set in Franconia Notch State Park, is a favorite among advanced skiers for its challenging runs and old-school feel, and Waterville Valley offers a balanced mix of slopes and a lively village scene.
Beyond the slopes, the White Mountains deliver a full winter experience. Snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and scenic gondola rides let visitors explore the region’s forests and alpine vistas at a slower pace. Cozy lodges and historic inns provide warm retreats after a day on the mountain, often paired with fireside dining and local craft beers. Whether you’re seeking adrenaline-filled descents or peaceful winter scenery, the White Mountains combine classic New England charm with some of the best skiing in the Northeast.
